I have the best friends in LA. Last night Adam, Pete, and Jamieson surprised me with a trip to see the Dodgers! Super Dodger dogs were eaten, nachos were devoured (minus that nasty salsa but plus jalapenos), large beers were drank, a weird divorcee dad awkwardly taught his kid the ways of the stadium in the row in front of us, and we danced to Mortal Kombatesque rave music as the Dodgers won the game 8 to 5! Too much fun! (special shout out to Ellen for being our sober cab, too!)
My friend Seth and I (under the band – Mimpleton Meets Gimpleton) made this album together in Waverly, MN (2004-2005) – right before I headed out to LA where I’ve been ever since. We had a great time making the album, and it’s one that I’m very proud of.
BTW-it’s a concept album about lovers being separated by a war. And the war is between man and machines known as Metal Devils. Yup….high concept! The album is called – “Even when you’re lonely, you’re not alone.” I hope you like it.
So my cousin and I are a year deep into a very successful artistic venture. One of us draws a page of a comic then we email it to the other, and then they draw the next page and email it and so on and so forth. 1 year later we finished 1 issue of Bipity and Bop (characters we created when we were 12 and 13 together) and are about 20 pages deep in a twisty scifi action comic called OMG…..so now here’s the 2nd page I finished yesterday. I know it’s out of context, but (shrug)….
Hey! I recorded these a few years ago but they didn’t end up on any album and I think they’re pretty good songsso I’m putting them here for anyone who wants to listen. They’re both break up songs.
“Walking In” was sorta made in between albums and never fit in with the mood of anything.
and “Hello Summer” is a b side from my 14 year-old in love concept album – DELANO. And it didn’t make it on the album because it didn’t really have the voice of a 14 year-old. It was some other dude, and I felt like the rest of the songs came from a similar character but this one was a little more out there. But I like it better than some of the songs that did make it.
Here are a few ancient songs I made when I was 16 and 17. They’re from my first 3 albums that span from the summer after my sophomore year to the beginning of my senior year at Delano High School. They’re pretty lo-fi (recorded on casette), and I’m only putting up a few of the songs I really love so that I don’t embarrass my internet self.
PS-to set the stage for the time period -
I (or anyone else I knew at the time) didn’t have a CD burner when I made my first album so I had to ship a tape off to a place in Iowa City (my brother was there at the U) to have it burned on to CD. Pretty funny to think about how hard it was back than. Enjoy!
